It names the separating elements
Walls between two flats, floors between two storeys, stairs, doors and windows within separating elements: the certificate lists what actually separates in your building.
Building physics in the Heinsberg district
As soon as flats, terraced houses or consulting rooms sit next to one another, sound insulation belongs to the evidence a building project has to carry. We look at your floor plans, review the build ups you have planned and produce the certificate for your file.

01 The certificate
The certificate is a document that belongs to your building file. It sets out which elements of your building separate two uses from one another, how those elements are built up, and that the build up delivers the separation your project is required to achieve.
01
Walls between two flats, floors between two storeys, stairs, doors and windows within separating elements: the certificate lists what actually separates in your building.
02
For every separating element the planned build up is taken and calculated. Anything that falls short shows up before the building work, not after it.
03
The certificate is prepared alongside the structural calculation, the thermal evidence and the rest of the file. Whether it is submitted in the approval procedure depends on the project and on the procedure.
02 Paths of sound
Sound insulation is not a property of a single wall. It arises from how the separating element works together with everything joined to it. That is why a certificate always looks at the whole situation.
Voices, music, a television. Air carries the sound to the wall, the wall is excited and radiates sound again on the other side. The heavier and the better decoupled the element, the less arrives.
Footsteps, chairs being moved, an object that falls. Here the element is excited directly. What matters is the floor build up above the slab and how cleanly it stays separated from the walls.
The path most easily overlooked in planning. Sound does not travel through the separating wall but past it, along the elements joined to it: through a screed that runs on, through the slab, through the facade.
03 Building elements
These elements decide what arrives on the neighbour side. For each of them the certificate records how it is built up and how it connects to the rest of the structure.
04 How it runs
The route is short and always the same. You send what you have, we clarify the situation, and you receive a document you can work with.
You describe the project and send us floor plans and sections. We tell you whether a certificate is needed and what it will cover.
We look at which rooms adjoin each other and what sits above, below and beside what. That decides which elements appear in the certificate.
The wall and floor build ups you have planned are reviewed. Where a build up does not carry what it is meant to carry, we propose an alternative.
The separating elements are calculated and the result is assembled into a document fit for review, together with the notes that belong on site.
If a build up is swapped during construction, tell us. We check whether the result is affected by it.
05 Documents
The more complete the documents, the sooner the certificate is ready. If something is missing, that is no obstacle. Simply send what you have.
If you are already working with us on the structural design, most of this is with us already.

06 Services
We prepare the structural design for your project, take on the detailing and produce the building physics evidence. The sound insulation certificate is one of those, and it does not stand on its own.
Structural calculation, structural design, seismic evidence, steel, timber and solid construction.
Construction planning with position drawings, formwork drawings and reinforcement drawings.
Thermal protection, moisture protection and sound insulation as the evidence the authorities require.
Because the structure and the building physics are drawn up at the same table, the elements in the sound insulation certificate match the elements that carry the load.

07 Region
We sit on Ostpromenade in Heinsberg. Enquiries from the town and from the neighbouring municipalities in the Heinsberg district reach us quickly, and documents travel just as well digitally as they do across a table.
Tell us where the work is. If a visit to the site makes sense, we will talk about it.
08 Questions
The questions we are asked most often on the telephone. If yours is not here, give us a call.
Whenever rooms in a building adjoin one another that belong to different dwellings, different owners or different uses. Apartment buildings, semi detached and terraced houses, extensions and conversions that create new separating elements are the usual cases. Whether the certificate has to be submitted in the procedure depends on the project. Describe yours and we will tell you.
If no other use adjoins inside the house and no neighbouring building is attached, there is as a rule nothing to separate. As soon as a second dwelling, a granny flat or a practice is added, the picture changes.
A description of the building and its uses, the list of separating elements with the build up planned for each, the calculation behind them and the result. Added to that are the notes that matter during construction, for example where the screed has to stay separated.
The route on which sound travels past a separating element instead of through it. A screed that runs on, a slab that carries through or a stiff facade can carry sound around the separating wall. A certificate that looks only at the separating wall and leaves the flanks out does not describe the building.
That depends on the size of the building and on how complete your documents are. Tell us your deadline when you enquire. We will say whether it can be met before you place the order.
The effort follows the size of the building and the number of separating elements. We look at your documents and give you the price before any work begins.
Let us know. A different screed, a different insulating layer or an extra penetration can change the result. Clearing it up during construction is far easier than afterwards.

Write briefly what is being built and where. We will look at the situation and come back with a clear statement of what the certificate covers and what it costs.
